Community Foundation Announces New Look

February 1, 2015

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

The Cedar Falls Community Foundation has a new look!  A winner has been chosen in the Foundation’s 2014 logo contest.  Judith Harrington, chair of the Public Relations Committee for the Cedar Falls Community Foundation has announced that Jennifer Jones Ruiz, graphic designer and photographer from Waverly, Iowa, provided the winning entry.  Jones Ruiz is a floral designer at Ecker’s Flowers & Greenhouses in Waverly and a freelance graphic artist. Jennifer received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Public Relations from Wartburg College, graduating in 2010. In 2006, Jennifer founded Art Walk, Waverly’s first-ever juried fine arts and crafts show and has directed the show for 10 years. Harrington noted that, “Jennifer provided a colorful, modern, clean logo for us.  Her design incorporates elements of our first logo, as well as colors that are meaningful to our community and give a nod to the university, the river, the lawn city, and the trail system.  We couldn’t be more delighted with her work.”

The new logo has been incorporated into a fresh new look for the Foundation’s website.  The Cedar Falls Community Foundation’s website www.cf-communityfoundation.org was designed by Cedar Falls resident Brian Seger of ChromaVantage.  The website also focuses on the community, featuring images of iconic Cedar Falls organizations and structures that the Cedar Falls Community Foundation has funded over the past four decades.  Seger’s company offers visual solutions including illustration and animation for a wide range of local and national clients.

“Even though the website is still evolving, we hope people will check it out,” noted Executive Director Cyndi Sweet. “We want the community to see how involved the Cedar Falls Community Foundation has been behind the scenes for a very long time.  For many years the Foundation went about its work very quietly and the result is that many in the community are unaware of how important the Cedar Falls Community Foundation has been to funding major capital projects as well as ongoing quality of life initiatives in Cedar Falls.  Given the passion and dedication of our citizens for Cedar Falls, the opportunities for donors and the Foundation to partner to make a substantial difference in Cedar Falls for decades to come is really limitless.”
