Cedar Falls Community Foundation Accepting Grant Applications 2017
November 7, 2017
The Cedar Falls Community Foundation will accept applications for grants from the Ella Rownd Trust until the end of December 2017.
The Ella C. Rownd Trust was established in 1967 under the Will of Ella C. Rownd as a memorial to herself, her husband C. A. Rownd, and their son Fred. In establishing this Trust, Ella Rownd provided a model for how one individual can have a long term impact on the quality of community life through careful estate planning and a commitment to public service and philanthropy. The assets of the Rownd Trust have been used to make significant contributions to community capital projects within the City of Cedar Falls. Grants to Cedar Falls capital projects from this Trust have exceeded $800,000.
Projects that have received funding from the Rownd Trust include the recent Cedar Falls Tennis Courts project, Cedar Falls Historical Society, Cedar Basin Jazz Festival Band Shell, Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center, the UNI-Dome, the McLeod Center, the Oster Regent Theatre Restoration Project, George Wyth Recreational Trail, Cedar Falls Public Library, Cedar Falls Recreation Center, The Falls Aquatic Center expansion, River Hills School, Cedar Falls Womans Club, Sartori Memorial Hospital, Hearst Center for the Arts, the Wellness Center at the Western Home Communities, and Hartman Nature Reserve.
Application may be made for support for capital projects. Applicants are encouraged to contact the Cedar Falls Community Foundation at cfcf@cfu.net or 319-243-9170 for a preliminary conversation to discuss their project and/or to obtain an application form.
Applications must be received by the end of December 2017 and will be considered in the first quarter of 2018 for funding. Grant recipients will be notified in February 2018.
Cynthia Sweet, executive director of the Cedar Falls Community Foundation said, “The Rownd Trust has been making a difference in Cedar Falls for many decades, granting funds to virtually every major capital project that has occurred in our community. The Foundation is eager to learn about upcoming capital projects through grant applications to the Trust this cycle.”
