Cedar Falls Community Foundation Elects new Emeritus Board Member 2019

March 21, 2019

The Cedar Falls Community Foundation has announced the election of a new member to its Emeritus Board.  Judith Cutler, previously a member of the Board of Directors, and now a resident of Sebring, Florida, was elected to the Emeritus Board at the January 31, 2019 board meeting.

Emeritus status may be granted to a board member under the by-laws of the Cedar Falls Community Foundation, upon completion of either 2-three year terms or reaching the age of 65 with at least six years of service.  Emeritus status allows full rights to the member relative to meeting attendance and event participation and removes any attendance standard from the member.  Emeritus members, while encouraged to attend and participate, are not voting members and may not hold a leadership position or be elected as an officer of the Foundation.  Emeritus status does not prohibit the member from re-nomination to active status on the board if desired.

Russ Curtis, President of the Cedar Falls Community Foundation, said “Judi Cutler’s contributions to the Cedar Falls Community Foundation date back to its very beginning.  In 1977, Judi was one of the original incorporators of what was then called the Cedar Falls Civic Foundation.  She remained a committed board member and leader until her retirement and move out of state in 2011.  Through her service as a board member and volunteer leader of the Foundation, she helped establish the strong organizational foundation upon which we continue to build.”

Other members of the Emeritus Board of the Cedar Falls Community Foundation are Jan Andersen, Robert Beach, Robert Dieter, Miller Roskamp, and the late Robert Hardman.

Cynthia Sweet, Executive Director of the Cedar Falls Community Foundation, said, “In 2012, Judi was honored with the Peter Melendy Distinguished Community Builder Award.  This award recognized Judi’s “extraordinary dedication and service to the enrichment of the lives of the citizens of Cedar Falls.”  The impact of her public service is all around us, in the Sturgis Falls Celebration, the community center, and the Blue Zones initiative, to name a few.  Judi sought ways to serve and support the community that continue to this day. We are delighted that she will continue her association with Cedar Falls as a member of the Foundation’s Emeritus Board.”
