Nomination Criteria

The Melendy Spirit Award is presented to individuals, families, groups, or organizations, who have made outstanding community contributions that have enhanced, improved, or positively affected the overall quality of life in Cedar Falls, through philanthropic or other means.  Nominations may be made for honorees both living and deceased.

Award Qualifications

Candidates for this award will be considered based on their community contributions that have enhanced, improved, or positively affected the overall quality of life in Cedar Falls. Nominations must show how the candidate(s) achieved this goal. The community contributions of candidates may be in the form of community involvement, commitment to volunteering their time and skills, leadership, community assistance, personal example, and/or personal accomplishments.

Cedar Falls Community Foundation Awards $20,000 in Scholarships

The Cedar Falls Community Foundation has awarded four $5,000 scholarships from the Robert Eller Study Abroad Endowment to support UNI students studying abroad during the Spring 2020 semester. The Robert Eller Study Abroad Endowment was established by emeritus UNI Education Media Specialist Robert Eller to foster the educational, professional, and personal growth of undergraduate students
