Ella C. Rownd Trust

The Rownd Trust was established in 1967 under the will of Ella C. Rownd as a memorial to herself, her husband, C.A. Rownd, and their son, Fred Rownd. The Rownd Trust supports local capital projects.

Melendy Spirit Award

The Melendy Spirit Award is presented to individuals, families, groups, or organizations, who have made outstanding community contributions that have enhanced, improved, or positively affected the overall quality of life in Cedar Falls, through philanthropic or other means. The award is named for Peter Melendy who became a resident of Cedar Falls in 1859 at the age of 36. By living fully and energetically he contributed to the cultural life and economic development of Cedar Falls. The Melendy Spirit Award is open to all Cedar Falls residents who reflect the example set by Peter Melendy. Nominations may be made for honorees both living and deceased.
