Melendy Spirit Award

The Melendy Spirit Award is presented to individuals, families, groups, or organizations, who have made outstanding community contributions that have enhanced, improved, or positively affected the overall quality of life in Cedar Falls, through philanthropic or other means. The award is named for Peter Melendy who became a resident of Cedar Falls in 1859 at the age of 36. By living fully and energetically he contributed to the cultural life and economic development of Cedar Falls. The Melendy Spirit Award is open to all Cedar Falls residents who reflect the example set by Peter Melendy. Nominations may be made for honorees both living and deceased.

Cedar Falls Community Foundation Grants Made to Local Organizations

The Cedar Falls Community Foundation Board of Directors has approved grants to five area nonprofits totaling $33,250.00.
